New!!! (well 8 months ago). MooTunes lives on but in the App Store as "ooTunes Radio".More info here...

About MooTunes

MooTunes is the native player for the ooTunes Media Server.
Accessing ooTunes from the iPhone/iPod touch does NOT require MooTunes, you can simply use Safari to access your music, videos, streams, pandora, last.fm, seeqpod, mp3tunes, etc.

Trying MooTunes/ooTunes

You can test MooTunes for free by setting the login url to http://demo.ootunes.com username/password: demo
You will be limited to 10 minutes of a single stream, and of course, the music selection is limited (it's a demo!). For your own musical tastes, buy ooTunes!

Installing MooTunes

To download MooTunes (the native ooTunes player for iPhone and iPod touch), add the repository below to the AppTap installer's sources:

http://i.ootunes.com

then look for Mootunes in the "Multimedia" category, or search for "MooTunes".

Requirements

MooTunes requires a jailbroken ipod touch/iphone with firmware 1.1.3 or greater (it might work on 1.1.1 or 1.1.2, but hasn't been tested).

Streaming over EDGE will require properly setting up transcoding.

The future of MooTunes

Mootunes was created as a proof of concept, and to allow listening to music while browsing the internet, or using other apps (something you can't do thanks to the excremental quicktime player apple uses in Safari).

Mootunes has issues... but we have stopped actively developing it in order to concentrate on an official SDK version.

Mootunes will be replaced by an official SDK player once the store is up and we finish developing/testing it.

Thanks

Mootunes is based off of the excellent mobile podcast player/manager MobileCast. For more info on that, see http://podgrove.com
